*Commie = communist = supporter of communism**.
**Communism = a theory or system of social organization in which all property is owned by the community (government) and each person contributes and receives according to their ability and needs. A theory or system of this kind derived from Marxism and established in the former Soviet Union, China, and elsewhere.
Comício na Central do Brasil, on the 13th of March 1964.
Comício: rally, meeting, assembly; demonstration.
If I were asked which the most significant year of my life was, I might very well say that it was 1964. In 1964, Brazil was definitely becoming a branch of the USSR (Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics).
My father had left Germany in 1932. For him, it was like hell to live so near two terrible entities like the Nazi Party, in his own homeland, and the Communist Party in the neighboring USSR. Poland was (and still is) just a buffer state between the two world powers.
Brazil, with its tropical climate, very far from Stalin’s frozen paradise sounded like a dream to him. Besides that, the chances of Germany to fall prey of the Communist “heaven” were very big”, and were another reason for Hitler, a true madman, to have repeated, the formidable mistake of Napoleon, carrying out the so called Operation Barbarossa.
Operation Barbarossa (named for Frederick Barbarossa, the medieval German ruler who, as myth had it, would rescue Germany in her time of need) was the code name for Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union during World War II that began on 22 June 1941. Over 4.5 million troops of the Axis powers invaded the USSR along a 2,900 km (1,800 mi) front, the largest invasion in the history of warfare. In addition to the large number of troops, Barbarossa involved 600,000 motor vehicles and 750,000 horses.
You must add to that the fact that the biggest lie ever invented by one single man was produced by a German “philosopher”, a gigolo named Karl Marx, supported by another crazy German comrade, Friedrich Engels. Thus, Brazil was a good option for a 28-year-old man. In fact, he wanted to emigrate to the USA, but the Brazilian consul in his hometown, Danzig, in Eastern Prussia, happened to be his friend and convinced him that Brazil was the best option for him. On the 16th of July 1932, Heinz Ebelt arrived in Rio de Janeiro, never to return to Europe. Nevertheless, he did not succeed to live in place free of commies. He had to live, for example, with the ubiquitous presence of Luiz Carlos Prestes always trying to find a way to turn Brazil into a branch of Moscow. Fortunately, in 1947, during the term of President Eurico Gaspar Dutra, the TRIBULAR SUPERIOR ELEITORAL had the good sense to clip his wings and to declare illegal the Brazilian communist party.
*To emigrate: (verb: TO MOVE ABROAD, to move overseas, to leave one's country, to migrate; to relocate, to resettle)
Today I recognize that communists in power do not eat little children, they only kill them and their parents, whenever anyone disagrees to their points of view or their dogmas. Until Antonio Gramsci, for the commies, to kill their opposers was the natural way of acting. Just like King John Lackland, brother of Richard Coeur de Lion, in England, in the 13th century of the Christian era.
Antonio Gramsci taught the communist dinosaurs that there was another way to take over the political power of a nation of naïve people.
The naivety of J. Goulart was undeniable and his intentions were clear: to establish a communist beachhead in Brazil. That did not happen for only one reason: The Brazilian Armed Forces
Anyway, thanks to the counter-revolution that will celebrate its 48th anniversary next March, I was lucky to live a significant part of my life without having to fear communism, privilege that our brothers in Cuba did not have.
View of Havana, the most important city of Cuba, the Caribbean hell of the (late?) Comma-andante Fidel Castro.
Our problem, nowadays, besides being of political nature (the left is back again) is essentially the establishment of a first class kleptocracy, which makes our nation spend much more than should be spent with absolutely needless expenses caused by the uncontrollable kleptocracy that managed to take over the three powers of the nation. Just like in Cuba, we have a minority of first class citizens getting gargantuan, whopping salaries and pensions, and a vast majority of
second-class citizens whose pensions are slowly being reduced to the level of the national minimum wage. Brazilian first class citizens, in communist countries such as the defunct USSR, used to be classified as members of the NOMENKLATURA.
So, in one way or another, the enemies of Brazil in the sixties are finally succeeding in their intents. That is very sad. But we still have the weapons to fight them: the PEN and the VOTE.
Have an excellent weekend. Drive safely. Don’t drink and drive. Don’t speak on the phone while you are driving. Don’t text behind the wheel.
